Last updated: September 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how POLIGLO.TO ("Poliglo," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the POLIGLO.TO website or mobile application (together, the "Service").

POLIGLO.TO is developed and published by Tuxon. The Android application ID is to.poliglo.app.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address and use it to send a one-time verification code.
  • Game information: We store your selected languages, game history, guesses, hints, scores, completed challenges, streaks, and related preferences so the Service can preserve and synchronize your progress.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical information: Our servers and service providers may receive your IP address, browser or app type, device and operating-system information, language, timestamps, requested pages, and diagnostic information.
  • Website usage information: We may collect interactions with the website, such as page views, challenge activity, downloads, and share-button events.
  • Authentication information: We process hashed verification codes, hashed session tokens, an irreversibly hashed form of the requesting IP address for rate limiting, session type, and a general device label.

Optional word problem reports

You can report a problem with a word, meaning or pronunciation without an account or email address. We store the problem category, your optional explanation, the language, a copy of the published content concerned and the submission time. Reports are private and used by our editorial team to investigate and correct content. Please do not include personal information in your explanation.

We use a separately stored, keyed identifier derived from your network address to limit repeated submissions within a rolling daily window. The report store does not save your raw IP address. Reports remain available for editorial review until we delete them; they do not expire automatically. For privacy questions about a report, contact privacy@poliglo.to.

Local storage and cookies

The Service uses browser or app local storage to keep your settings, game progress, and, in the mobile app, your account access token. The website may use a secure session cookie when you sign in. On the website, analytics and advertising-measurement providers may also use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies. You can clear local data through your browser or device settings, but doing so may remove unsynchronized progress.

How we use information

  • Provide daily and archived challenges and preserve your progress.
  • Authenticate your account and synchronize play across devices.
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
  • Measure website usage, downloads, and the effectiveness of our promotions on the website.
  • Prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and comply with legal obligations.

Service providers

We use service providers to host and operate the Service, deliver verification emails, analyze usage, and measure advertising campaigns. These providers may process information on our behalf or under their own privacy terms. The website uses Google Analytics, Google Ads, and TikTok Pixel. These analytics and advertising tools are not included in the mobile app, where our analytics collection is disabled. Their handling of information is governed by their respective privacy policies. We require providers processing information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.

We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on applicable law, disclosures of technical and usage information to analytics or advertising-measurement providers may be considered "sharing" or targeted advertising. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the Service or its users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the Service, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Optional platform game services

When Game Center is enabled for Poliglo, the iOS app attempts to connect once at startup, when the opening screen is ready. Apple may reuse an existing sign-in or show its sign-in or setup screens. You can cancel and keep playing without connecting, or retry and open Game Center through Account. Google Play Games is currently disabled on Android; this startup connection does not apply to Google. In versions with this setting, Account lets you turn Game Center off for Poliglo. This choice is saved on your device until you turn it on again. Turning it off stops new automatic connection attempts, submissions and game-services tracking, preserves your progress, and does not sign you out of the device’s Apple account. Deleting your Poliglo account or local history does not reset this choice.

For basic Game Center access, our integration uses the platform player identifier in memory to manage the connection. It does not save that identifier to device storage, keep achievement or round records for this feature, or submit achievements or leaderboard scores. Apple handles its own account and service data under its policies.

Your Poliglo account and synchronized game progress remain separate from your platform game profile. Our game-services integration does not send your Poliglo email address to Apple or Google. In versions with achievements enabled, it sends achievement identifiers and completion information to the provider; a repeatable achievement can be reported for each distinct qualifying puzzle. On iOS, it reads completed Game Center achievements to restore earned status, but these reads do not identify repeated completions or prevent duplicate reports for a particular puzzle. On your device, we keep the platform player identifier, per-puzzle achievement records and counts, delivery status, and local round evidence including selected words, languages and moves, to check eligibility and manage submissions. A local account marker distinguishes rounds belonging to different Poliglo accounts; it is not an authentication credential. Versions with streak leaderboards enabled also store puzzle identifiers, puzzle dates, win/loss results and score-delivery status locally to calculate streaks, and send the current numerical streak score to Apple for the connected Game Center player. The leaderboard reports do not include the puzzle dates, selected words or moves.

In versions with game-services cleanup, deleting your Poliglo account or choosing local-history cleanup also removes the saved round, local achievement records and counts, and local puzzle results and streak-submission records on this device. Clearing the app’s data removes these local records too. These actions and signing out of Poliglo do not delete achievements or leaderboard scores already recorded by Apple or Google. Reconnecting to Apple can reload earned statuses, but not removed local puzzle records, repeat counts or pending submissions. A report already sent to the provider cannot be recalled. Platform records have separate visibility, retention and deletion controls. Providers may also process service activity and SDK diagnostics under their own policies. See Game Center & Privacy, the Google Privacy Policy, and Google's Play Games data deletion guidance.

Sharing a result

When you choose to share a result, the Service prepares share text and opens your device's sharing interface. You decide whether and where to send it. The destination app or service handles shared content under its own privacy policy.

Data retention

Local game data remains on your device until you clear the Service's data or uninstall the app. If you create an account, we retain your email, preferences, and synchronized game history while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Verification codes expire after a short period and are periodically deleted; account sessions expire after a limited period. We may retain limited records longer when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement.

Your choices and rights

You can use the game without creating an account. In iOS and Android app versions that include account deletion, sign in and open Account → Delete account and request a fresh deletion code sent to your account email address. Enter that code and confirm to permanently delete your Poliglo account. This removes your email address, account preferences, synchronized game history, account sessions, login codes and deletion codes from our active account records. It also clears the game history and statistics stored in that app on this device. This action cannot be undone.

Your device's language and accessibility settings remain. Local copies on other devices are not remotely erased. Deleting your Poliglo account does not delete your Apple or Game Center account or its records. Limited security records and backup copies may be retained separately as described under Data retention.

You can also clear locally stored information through your browser or device settings and sign out to revoke the current session. For account-deletion requests, including from the website or app versions without this feature, and for access, correction, export or help with your privacy choices, contact privacy@poliglo.to. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights and the right to complain to a local data-protection authority.

International processing

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. We will post the revised policy here and change the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service when appropriate.
